2 years ago Chris and I moved to Kansas City after graduating from college. When we moved here, I told him we had to live somewhere that would allow us to get a puppy. So we found a duplex that allowed pets. Less than 2 months after we moved in, I told Chris I was ready to start looking for a puppy. So we went around to different pet shops and researched online to find the "type" of puppy that we would like to have. Something small, but not too small. Something that would not shed all over our house and that would be nice so when we have kids it will be okay to have around. So i did my research and found all the types of dogs that met those requirements. We hadn't really started to actually go to stores to buy, just to look to see what was out there. Then, one Sunday afternoon, Chris' mom brought over a newspaper and we saw an add for "Yorktese Puppies" for sale. A Yorktese is a Yorkie/Maltese mix. Both breeds are shedless and pretty small. So I called the people in the newspaper and we decided we would go look the next day. We brought a kennel with us (just in case we liked what we saw). We got there and they had only 2 little puppies left. They kept them outside in a big barn with a bunch of other dogs so they were really dirty, smelled like urine and just looked grungy. But of course, as soon as I saw the puppies, I just had to have one! We actually almost bought BOTH of them, but we decided to just stick with one since our place was small and they weren't house broken yet. The white one just ran around and was oblivious to us even being there. But the smaller puppy that was black, brown and tan came up to us and licked us and started to check us out. After about 5 minutes, I looked at Chris and we both knew we were leaving with that puppy. He smelled AWEFUL and his hair was so long and grown out, I'm not sure how we fell in love with him, but we did!!! We took him home that night and gave him 4 showers to get him smelling better... Here is a picture BEFORE his haircut... Still very cute though!
After he got his haircut he looked more like a pet, not a wild beast! I'm not sure how we lucked out to find the PERFECT PUPPY, but we managed to do it! I really don't think there was any other puppy out there for us! He was meant to be our buddy and he is perfect! I love every bit of him!

I love snuggling him up in a blanket when he's really tired. He runs around our backyard so much that he gets exhausted! Then he lays down and I put a blanket around him and he just stays there (normally when he's not tired, he doesn't stay put!)

So my goal is to make it out to see your perfect puppy..and you, sometime really soon. Ed and I want to do some kind of trip before he leaves and we've talked about going to Nauvoo and stopping by to see you en route, or else, Mom and I want to go to Connecticut sometime this fall and may try to catch you on that trip. I'd like to do it before you'd have to go back to school, so I'll have to touch base with ya about when would be better than not. Miss ya Erin!
Bauer is Gay ... I will punt him like Baxter!
It was totally meant to be! Why do I feel like I've met him, even though I haven't?? Probably because I'm his favorite aunt.
Such cute pics!!
I love that first picture of him the most. Probably because he reminds me of Todd ~ all messy, rowdy, and irresistable. Todd's lucky I didn't punt him like Baxter (whatever that means). I also love the last picture with his totally unique "Bauer" smile.
Mom- Watch the movie "Anchorman" and you will know what Todd means when he says he'll punt him like Baxter... There is a dog named Baxter in the movie that Jack Black kicks over a bridge... It's pretty funny!
Erin my love I haven't seen you in forever and you look beaautiful and I want to steal your puppy!! HOpe you are doing well!!
